A bit of time to myself today so I went into Southport and saw that the Southport Sailing Club were hosting a 12 hour junior yacht race on the Marine lake. Great opportunity to fire off a few shots. According to the Southport Sailing club's website the race has been running for 27 years and is open to all sailors under the age of 20. It seems to have been a good day all round, a good stiff breeze but pleasantly warm and whilst cloudy the rain held off.
There was a good number of competitors and a healthy number of spectators around the Lake and particularly at the Sailing club itself. The competitors were in good spirits and clearly enjoying themselves. Good sport for the spectators with a few nervous whoops as the boats teetered on the edge during some of the turns, not that the swans were too bothered though... :)
